Louise Fellows
Founder and Pilates instructor at YPP
Where did you grow up?
I lived in Wolverhampton until I was 12 years old, and moved with my family to the Isle of Mull, Scotland.
How did you discover Pilates?
I used to work at an MS Therapy Centre – there was a Pilates class there once a week and the teacher (later to become a friend and mentor) encouraged me to come along to his studio. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it – I’ve never really been a “sporty” type – but in Pilates I found a type of exercise that really suits my body. I also loved being part of a class that felt like a friendly community – it’s safe to say that it was the inspiration for YPP!
Aside from Pilates, what do you do to relax?
I have two small children, what is relaxation?
In theory (if not in practice), I’m an amateur knitter, keen reader, occasional writer and fair-weather allotmenteer!
Do you have any pets?
I have a handsome ginger cat called Charlie, though he’s very much more my husband’s cat than mine! He tolerates me!
What skill would you most like to learn?
Honestly? Parallel parking!
What is your go to Pilates exercise?
The one I need most? Probably clams. But I love playing around with some of the advanced classical exercises like Roll-over and Control & Balance.
What do you love about YPP?
The people of course! I feel so fortunate that YPP has been able to continue as I navigate maternity leave and family life – every time I’m in the studio it feels like home.
