Do I need to bring a mat?
Nope. We provide good quality, thick mats that give you the right level of cushioning for a Pilates class. We also provide all the equipment that you’ll need for class.
How does membership work?
Standard Membership is £35 per month, and gives you a maximum of 5 classes to use within that month. Unlimited membership is £50 per month, and gives you unlimited classes. Your payments are taken on the same date each month – so if you join on the 5th, you’ll pay on the 5th of each month.
You can come at the same time each week, or book flexibly through our online booking system. There is no commitment – you can take a month off at any time.
Do you do drop-ins?
At York Pilates People, you pay per month, not per class. However, you don’t have to book the same class each week. With our Standard Membership, you get up to 5 classes per month, and you can mix them up any way you like.
There’s an oft-quoted line by Joseph Pilates which says, “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see a difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body”. Whilst we hope you’ll feel a difference before 10 sessions are up, we don’t think one is enough. We therefore ask that, if you’re just trying us out, you sign up for our Standard Membership (£35). This gives you chance to build a Pilates habit, and it gives your teacher chance to get to know your body. If you decide you’re really not a Pilates person after all, you can cancel your subscription – there’s no long-term commitment.
Do you have a changing room?
There’s a toilet with enough space to get changed if you need to, and there’s space for you to store your belongings. However, if it’s possible for you to change before arriving at the studio, we recommend that you do so.
Can I park nearby?
The nearest car park is a 3 minute walk away at Clifford’s Tower – click here for the car park location and pricing. There is also limited pay and display parking on Cumberland Street, directly outside the studio.
Where can I leave my bike?
There are bicycle racks directly opposite the studio, on Cumberland Street.
